Mark your calendars for an extra special author event at the Napa Library featuring Margot Livesey and her latest book, The Road from Belhaven.
Friday, July 18 at 6:30 p.m.
Napa Library
This event is part of One Book Napa, brought to you by the Napa Valley Writers' Conference in partnership with Napa Bookmine, Copperfield's Books, and the Library. One Book Napa invites the community to read and discuss a book together, and The Road from Belhaven is the first selection. Learn more about One Book Napa and other events featuring Margot Livesey here.

Library Director Anthony Halstead recently read The Road from Belhaven:

"I don’t read much historical fiction, but I really enjoyed this short novel. Set in Scotland during the onset of industrialization, The Road from Belhaven follows a family navigating both rural and urban life in a rapidly changing world.

"The main character occasionally glimpses the future through visions that come to her as dreams and riddles. These moments begin in her childhood and have a lasting impact on her life. They also create conflict, as the people around her often struggle to understand or accept what she sees.

"I found the writing style particularly compelling. While reading, I’d find myself thinking about the characters as if they were real people, and I kept wondering what might happen to them after the final page."
